Storytelling with moving pictures and sound is something I really like. Here are a few examples, however, only with stills because of the 'still' quite limited bandwidth we need to face with today's internet.
micromovie: nerd meets nockia
Micromovies are short films compatible to portable mobile devices. High compression rates, low sound quality, no fine details and not too many changes within the picture are things to be considered very early in the production process of micromovies, similar to video streaming on the internet.
The 3.14 min piece 'nerd meets nockia' is a surrealistic story about a tech guy discovering the secret power of his mobile phone. The 'snake' game becomes reality and by pressing a few buttons a few things outside happen...
I've written, produced and directed this film together with Emma Pueyo and Meri Collazos, two fellow students from Spain, during TTVO Interactive Media Programme. 'nerd meets nockia' was selected for the microfilm competition of Tampere Filmfestival 2002.
documentary: amorph!01, helsinki
Video documentary and impressions of amorph!01, international festival of living art, Helsinki, September 20th - 23rd 2001. I've been editing this more artistic composition on Avid Media Composer @ TTVO.
documentary: nightwatcher
In 1999 I created this person portrait film together with 2 fellow students of my university. In a small medieval town in Southern Germany, called 'Gengenbach', a traditional nightwatcher still does his nightly walks with his lantern, making sure all lights are switched off and all bars have closed...
We documented the nightwatcher's walk including the traditional nightwatcher singing. However, we didn't use artificial light but had torches with us, which gave quite an original atmosphere to the pictures.
audio: voiceART
For years I've been interested in music, playing it as well as producing - here is a very special sample:
The idea of voiceART was to produce a piece of music exclusively with voice samples - so all 'drums' etc. you can hear is my voice. Compositing was done with ProTools. Sounds quite 80's style.
hear_it: [mp3] [RealAudio] 50sec.
short film: bond 2000
Back in 1998 two study colleagues and myself started to brainstorm how the next Bond movie that WE produce would look like: Special cookoo-watch, satellite dishes, dangerous stunts, helicopters, a large explosion at the end, a charming miss moneypenny, the task: to rescue the world...
The result was 'Bond 2000' - a really low budget production and lots of fun. Except of the digital sound effects and video titles everything was produced quite the analog way: on good old S-VHS equipment of our university studios. (In the meantime they got pretty digitized as well :)
